Feldtmann Ridge to Siskiwit Bay

Wow, we got hit with rain last night just after dinner. In fact we saw several people come into camp soaked from the trail. It rained off and on throughout the night. The tent kept us dry and it was great sleeping weather. We were up before dawn, contemplating an expected hike in the rain. It was only a light rain during breakfast but had stopped by the time we put our packs on. By the time we were a mile down the path, the clouds had passed to the east and we had bright blue sky. We welcomed the cooler but sunny weather. Soon we reached the top of Feldtmann Ridge and the sights were glorious. If I had a nice and heavy camera and lens, you would see a beautiful picture of Rock of Ages Lighthouse. Memories, however, will only be the speck on my inexpensive disposable. What a beautiful day and hike. Feldtmann Ridge gave us several scenic overlooks including the fire town at the halfway point for the day. After lunch we finished the hike to Siskiwit Bay covering 10.2 miles for the day. The NPS has done a nice job on trail maintenance and the last three miles were flat, straight, and easy. We were lucky again to get a shelter at Siskiwit Bay and were able to dry out our tent and wet clothing. Siskiwit Bay was beautiful. We were planning to stay two nights and this was the perfect choice. Tonight's dinner entree was chicken and noodles and butterscotch pudding. We looked forward to a campfire on the beach and a chance at the northern lights.

Here we are: Mike Wayne, and Lyle.
